Deck Fury v1.3.0 Patch Notes - Items and Major Content Update
https://deltakai.itch.io/deckfury
1.3.0-alpha Patch Notes
The Item system is now fully functional and you can obtain items now through elite combats or purchasing them from the shop!
Items are passive objects that your character can obtain throughout a run which grant various powerful effects or buffs. The system took a little while to build as I had to integrate the system into the shop as well as reworking the reward system to allow for items as well. Items take on a fairly standard rarity system from Common - Uncommon - Rare - Special, with Special items only obtainable through certain events or actions.
As of writing this, 9 new items have been implemented and plenty more will be implemented in due time. No special items exist for the time being. Here's an overview of all of them:
Common:
- Armored Suit - Increases your armor by +15
- Battery - Increases Energy charge rate by 15%
- Block of Cheese - Permanently increases your Max HP by +50
- Energy Crystal - Permanently increases your Shields by +10
Uncommon:
- Spiked Cog - Dashing through enemies deals 50 damage to them
- Volatile Gem - Killing an enemy with a fire attack causes them to explode, dealing 50 fire damage to all adjacent targets. This can cause a chain reaction if enemies are killed by the explosion itself.
- Power Coil - Killing an enemy immediately refreshes your dash.
Rare:
- Voltaic Catalyst - Grants 33% of your Max HP as Shields, but lose 50% of your Max HP.
- Sapphire Amulet - Grants a buffer which blocks a single attack. The buffer regenerates every time your Energy reaches full.
Cards
Only one new card in this update as much of the time was devoted to developing the item system.
New Card: Serrated Slash
- Element: Blade
- Status Effect: Bleeding
- Base Damage: 40
- Description: Slash all 3 tiles ahead of you, dealing 40 damage and inflicting bleed on all hit targets.
Mechanics
All marked trigger effects are now fully functional. Here's an overview of how all of them work currently.
- Neutral: Deals 2x damage
- Blade: Inflicts bleeding which deals Base Damage * 1.5x over 3 seconds
- Breaking: Inflicts Armor Break, which removes the targets armor for 10 seconds
- Electric: Inflicts Stunned
- Fire: Triggers a fire explosion which hits all adjacent enemies for 0.5x the attacking card's Base Damage.
UI Updates
Various tweaks have been made to the UI, particularly the card selection screen to make things look cleaner as well as some QOL updates.
- The card description panel in the card selection screen now fades out when not card is hovered instead of immediately disappearing. Hovering over the panel will refresh the fade out and allow you to hover over the icons without needing to lock the card by Right-Clicking the card icon in the selection panel.
- The card icons in the selection panel have been changed to be all square for standardization and better readability.
- There is now an item panel on the right side of the screen during battle which allows you to view what items you have. Hovering over the items will show you a tool tip that describes what the item does.
- The card reward menu now has a skip button if you don't want any of the cards offered.
- New Additional Rewards panel implemented which will contain item or other rewards depending on the situation.
SFX Updates
- The scoring panel now has new satisfying clicky noises when presenting your scores as well as a nice Ka-Ching sound when the money earned text is shown.
