v1.6.0-alpha Patch Notes

This update is a big one, and we've got a lot to go through. In this update I've significantly reworked the visuals of the game, adding in lights and other post-processing elements with new card VFX, as well as general polish of UI elements. The game should no longer look as flat as before and the additional lighting effects should give the visuals some much needed vibrancy.

There's also a number of reworked cards, a couple new mechanics and one new card added in this update.

Major Visual Overhaul

This update marks the full transition to Unity URP. The game now uses lighting and a number of VFX for various cards have been reworked. the game should overall look more vibrant and lively.

New Mechanic: Reflecting Projectiles + Boosting Projectiles

The Force Blast card (and potentially other cards in the future) can now reflect enemy projectiles like shown in the gif above, and when reflected, the enemy projectile is turned back against them with greater speed and damage. You can reflect projectiles both in real-time and during Focus Mode.

Regular bazooka un-boosted

Force Blast can now also boost some friendly projectiles if hit by it, empowering them and causing them to move faster/do more damage/have additional effects. In the first example above, the rocket fired by the Bazooka Launcher card is being boosted by the Force Blast card, significantly increasing its speed and doubling its impact damage. The impact damage's attack element is also changed to Breaking and now causes a stun.

At the moment only the Bazooka projectile can be boosted, but expect future cards/projectiles to also have this fun interaction.

Card Reworks

In this update I've gone through a large chunk of the older cards and reworked most of the jank out of them, as well as improved VFX, such that said cards should now feel much better to use and are generally more useful across the board. There's still a bunch of cards that were made in the old days that are kind of bad which will also get reworked in due time.

List of reworked cards:

  • Bazooka Launcher
  • Reaper
  • Slash Boomerang
  • Stun Mine (originally known as Freeze Mine)
  • Summon Turret

Reworked The Reaper card in action, with new effect and VFX

New Card:

  • Rain of Bullets (Rare)

Bug Fixes

  • Card rewards at the end of the stage will no longer have duplicates
  • Items available at a shop will no longer have duplicates
