v1.4.0-alpha Patch Notes:

New Enemy: Shield Bearer

This guy's a tank, and can take anything you can throw at him and dish it back two-fold... That is, until you get behind him or find a way to make him drop his shield. Even so, Shield Bearer's high base HP and innate armor make him a difficult target to take down overall. The Shield Bearer is slow and predictable and while he hits hard, you can use your dash to easily outmaneuver him.

Utilizing the Armor Break effect via Marks and Breaking cards can help you take him down quicker.


Design Notes

The Shield Bearer was designed as a way to teach players to utilize the dash mechanic, and make use of mark effects/debuffs to defeat strong, singular opponents. Up until now, the only other enemy worth using marks/debuffs on was the Magician due to their high HP. However, since the Magician only showed up in Elite or Boss battles, there was little incentive to engage with these mechanics until it was too late.


UI Updates:

Deck View:

The card selection panel now has a Deck View button that allows you to view your entire deck instead of just the 10 cards in the card selection panel.


Enemy Preview Panel:

Hovering over stages during stage selection will now show you a panel underneath the map preview which tells you what kind of enemies you will be going up against and the number of them.


New Item: Amber Pearl

  • Rarity: Uncommon
  • Description: Killing an enemy restores 10% of your energy bar.


Misc .Changes:
  • The base score for killing enemies has been doubled from 50 to 100 such that there is now more incentive to go for stages with additional enemies. This also has the welcome side-effect of reducing the money gap between experienced and inexperienced players as enemy kills now hold a higher proportion of the available stage score.
